Northwestern University’s 153rd Commencement began this morning under sunny skies, something we haven’t seen in a few years. The anticipation of Stephen Colbert’s keynote speech lived up to expectations. The stands were packed with friends, family and possibly a few staff members to see him live. Those who could not attend were able to view the live webcast at their computer.
Here are a few statistics from the event:
- 3089 Unique viewers
- 1949 Simultaneous viewers
- 41 Countries
- 4.89 TB of video streamed
- 1.2 Gbps of peak bandwidth streaming off campus
This was, by far, the highest volume of traffic for a live streaming event for Northwestern University. In fact, it was more than 5x as many total viewers over our previous high with ex-Mayor Richard Daley, in 2008.
