Waxman Infant Lab online studies application is a Javascript frontend with Node/Typescript Serverless backend for collecting research data by merging webcam and screen recordings and uploading to AWS S3.
Mother’s with infants are screened for the study and sent an email containing a unique link and a code to sign into the application. They are then walked through the research instructions and setup. Infants are positioned in front of a webcam and recorded as various stimuli are presented on screen. The application records the screen and the babies reaction through the webcam. These media sources are then merged and uploaded along with log files to AWS S3 where Waxman lab researchers can access and download the videos using Cyberduck.
