Northwestern’s celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. continues, with today’s Keynote Address by Dr. Mae Jemison. Martin Luther King Jr. was an amazing civil rights leader and thoughtful scholar. He was influenced by ideas of people who came before him, including the 16th century theologian, Martin Luther. In Professor Christine Helmer’s recent MOOC, Luther and the West, she discusses how the ideas of Martin Luther moved through history, and how both Martin Luther and Martin Luther King Jr. came to have Freedom inscribed in their name.
