Professor Todd Murphey recognized for Teaching Excellence!

Left to Right: Laura Kick (NUIT), Professor Todd Murphey (award recipient), and Harlan Wallach

Professor Todd Murphey has been named a Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence!  This is a very fitting recognition of Todd’s endless and successful efforts to inspire students in person and online!  Todd genuinely cares about fostering student understanding and examining the ways in which we as educators connect students and material.  I had the pleasure of working with Todd to create approximately 30 videos for his Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), Everything is the Same: Modeling Engineered Systems. He was as genuine and dedicated filming lecture videos in our studio as he was encouraging students to question and understand at local meet-ups. You can watch the promotional video or be alerted about future course sessions here:  https://www.coursera.org/course/modelsystems.

It was a pleasure to hear all of the award recipients speak at the ceremony this evening as they shared insightful, inspirational, and sincere thoughts about the teachers and mentors who have guided them.  Congratulations to Todd and all of the faculty members recognized this evening!
